I am opening this thread to talk about the fact that one of the core features of Android Marshmallow is missing from our Moto X Play.
What is Doze?
It's an optimization in terms of battery consumption that let you save a lot of battery if you are not using the phone. It does not work if you have it in your pocket, but placing it on a desk while working or studying, makes Doze active.
Doze and Moto X Play
When Android 6.0 arrived on Moto X Play I noticed that Doze was not mentioned in the update's changelog, but I did not mind about it even if someone did and opened threads about this on other sites. Yesterday, I found a tool on XDA that checks if your device is suitable for Doze, analyzing Sensor Support, Google Play Services Support and Doze Config Flag. The result? Sensor Support on Moto X Play is missing.
Why? Maybe Doze needs gyroscope to work, otherwise I don't know the reason of this lack of support.
